Dr. Jon Crooker
Much like a green leaf, as represented in our logo, I have intentionally sought out a community where my practice can be rooted and grow. I’ve been practicing in Bryn Mawr since 2007, serving patients of all ages, occupations, athletic aspirations, and leisure interests. I love every minute. Our patients come back to us when they need us because they like that we can take care of their discomfort and get them back to their lives as quickly as possible. I’m happy to say we’ve established many happy patients who view Bryn Mawr Wellness as their go-to chiropractic practice.
Before starting my practice in Bryn Mawr, I had the opportunity to work in an urban environment for two years. I quickly identified the transient nature of a city and the challenge it presented to feeling involved in the community. It is the exact opposite here. I know the owners of many local businesses. I build relationships with business owners in the area who have physically demanding jobs and need a regular chiropractor they can count on. Medical doctors of varying specialties, orthopedists, and primary care doctors from the area refer their patients to my practice because I specialize in both Active Release Techniques® and the Graston Technique®. Because of my regular work with athletes, I am also the go-to chiropractor for many local sports coaches.
Educational Background
My educational background includes an undergraduate degree in chemistry from Ursinus and a doctorate from the New York Chiropractic College. I played lacrosse took (and gave) a lot of hits, and the resulting low back pain is what caused me to see my first chiropractor. I remember feeling immediate relief after my first visit. Even though I applied to chiropractic school because I saw how it could help with rehabilitation for athletes like myself, I had long been aware of its benefits since many of the women in my family have seen chiropractors to alleviate their lower back pain.
Through my chiropractic training, I learned that there were many people with a wide range of conditions who relied on chiropractic care as a means to get better. While in school, I worked in a Meadowlands Hospital ER that used chiropractors to help with pain management instead of drugs: it was eye-opening to see how powerful this type of medicine truly is and the impact it could have.
Professional Story
When I graduated, I practiced in the theater district of New York City, working on performers and actors. Six months later, I worked on Wall Street, treating bankers and those in the finance industry. Both experiences revealed how high stress, whether it is a physically demanding career or a sedentary one, could damage the body’s alignment. Together, they provided a well-rounded experience similar to the scope of patients I see daily at Bryn Mawr Wellness.
Originally from Delaware, I knew I would eventually move to this area ever since I became familiar with it during my undergrad years. I started Bryn Mawr Wellness in April 2007, and I am grateful every day to have the opportunity to operate a practice in a close community like this.
